If you have a desire to take a piece of wood and turn it into something beautiful and useful, then you have the drive of a woodworker. Whether you are a designer or an everyday person you can find ways to improve your home with woodwork.
For the exterior of your home just add some architectural embellishments. Even if you don't have a vintage home there are ways to embellish a "run of the mill" home with handmade wood brackets, shutters, and arches over windows and doors. The gingerbread spokes would give the roof peak a period look and add value to your home. You can choose a period style to portray, whether it is Georgian, Victorian or Colonial, to add a touch of history. Porches and railings can be added to give it a distinct look. For continuing that look why not build a couple of Adirondack chairs for your porch? A gazebo would also add a finishing touch to the area and show off your skills.
Enhance the interior of your home with some beautiful built-in cabinets and a bookcase. Another way to add value and beauty to your home is to build a mantel for your fireplace with some stained, shaped wood. Add some new window and door casings and moldings around existing cabinets for a refined look. Moving into the kitchen let your talents shine with some added corner cabinets or a much-needed island for storage and a working area. Keep on working until your skills and talents are felt in every room.
