Adding a woodwork design to any room within your home can be done easily. Not only does it add charm, it can also add value. There are many people who are now opting to have hardwood floors instead of carpeting. You can take a not so attractive mirror with a wood frame and have the mirror piece replaced with stain glass turning it from plain and ordinary to outstanding and extraordinary. Years ago a wall scone was needed to hold candles or oil lamps. Now you can use them as a display area, curio shelf or a plant holder.
There may be a room in your home that is overfilled and you need just that right set of bookshelves in which to put items, think about having a cabinet or a buffet/counter notched into available wall space. By notching it you would be setting it back into the wall therefore opening up some much needed floor space. If you have an open space in your home you may decide to add a wall. Oak or cedar paneling makes a beautiful makeshift wall divider.
The focal point in many homes is the fireplace. Placing a wood trim around it or as the mantle adds great elegance to your home. Most fireplaces are brick so by creating a different look by adding wood it will surely make it something that people who visit will be talking about. You have many choices in which to choose from like oak or maple, which are light in color. Some people prefer the dark cherry wood. A person cannot go wrong by adding this particular touch of elegance to their fireplace.
