Woodwork Trim Around Doors and Floors

The woodwork trim around doors and flooring in a home should be the same in style, size and texture of the wood. In the old homes and some antique homes around the world you will see a lot of trim. This was because it went up faster and easier than trying to cut the much thinner trim. Back in the old days men had to use a hand saw to cut the lumber to build homes with.

Now you can go into any Lowe's or Home Depot and buy any kind of trim you want. You will still need the trim around the doors and floors to be the same in order for it to look right. New homes are going with a two inch width around the doors and floors now. It brings out the beauty of the doors the trim is around. The trim around the flooring is really called the base board and once the base board has been completed it is like putting a frame around a big picture. To decide on what type of trim you would want really depends on the style of the home.

If you have an English style home you would like to keep the trim as close to the English style as possible. Trim can be purchased as small as three quarters inches in width to as large as four inches in width if not larger. It can also be purchased in wood, or the imitation that looks like it's real but is more flexible.
