If you are a beginner at woodwork design, you may want to make something simple for your first projects. A simple design might be a bread board. Simple plain design can be made fancy by a wood burned design on it. This can be a good project for a young person to try first to be the feel of the tools they will be using before moving to a mot difficult design.
A great project that can be either simple or intricate is a birdhouse. Nothing is more simple than a bluebird house. Most all pieces are the same size and they are easy to put together. Find a birdhouse making book and it will have a bunch of designs to make with simple instructions and pictures. You will need to make different sized houses for different birds but most birds will build in anything they can get into. By adding different little things onto the house it can look like it was hard to make but in fact it was simple.
There are many patterns for simple projects such as a hall table and a what-not shelf. The hardest thing about either may be the assembly but with good instructions it can be easy and simple. Another very simple project can be yard ornaments. Using a scroll saw you can make any yard ornaments you find to your favor. Search the internet and you can find many free patterns to download.
