Woodworking can be a complicated process unless you know what you are doing. An amateur may not measure or cut boards exactly the way they should, and this results in bad spots. Better yet, get someone that is experienced to do the job for you. It will cost you a little extra money, but the end results are worth it. Your doors and floors are an important part of your house; they need to be done with care. There is nothing like a squeaky floor, an uneven floor, or even one that is not solid. There is also nothing like a squeaky door, one that won't fit tightly, hung crooked, or has bad pivots.
The floors in your house are important, especially when it comes to support. The standard for a floor is to use 2 X 6 joists or beams that the flooring can be nailed to. These will make the floor sturdy and hold it tightly. There are many types of flooring, but 3/4 inch plywood is your best bet. Particle board or OCB crumble if it gets wet. A good flooring now is the laminated lumber or a tongue and groove, which will fit tightly together and help with insulation and air cracks. Your floors should have a level used on them before placing them permanently. Be sure to find the right type of baseboard to trim your floors and walls. Use what is long-lasting.
Doors can make the front of a house noticeable. Hanging doors in the right way sometimes takes patience. Make sure door jams are even, cut facing evenly, and trim with your choice. Don't trim doors too tight because it may effect the way the doors shut. If you trim to loose, it can let unnecessary air or noise in. Doors that close right, and floors that walk right can make you a happy homeowner.
